Q: What are the types of wooden boats you mainly made?


A: We are made the following vessels:
    a. Traditional Greek vessels:
         (1) Trechantiri class
         (2) Varkala class
         (3) Karavoskaro class

     b. Foreign design traditional sailing boats
         (1) Romily class
         (2) Wanderer class
    c. High speed boats , semi displacement boats and small boats
         The types of boats ranging from small boats (2.80, 3.90, 4.90 meters), to larger vessels of  6.75, 9.20, 10.30 meters long and sport yachts reach up to 14 meters long.
Finally, we can design, any traditional (or modern design) vessel, of our’s or your own design with special requirements.


Q: How long can does it take to finish a wooden boat?


A: It depends on the size of the vessel and the level of equipment that the customer wants to fit in. For a small boat (up to 5 meters) may require 35 days while working a traditional “Trechantiri” class boat  (e.g. 10 meters) more than 12 months.

Q: What are the construction phases of a vessel?


A: The construction of a vessel starts from designing and having gone through many different phases till it is ready to be delivered to its owner. Click here to see in detail the various construction phases.

Q: How much does it cost a new wooden boat?
A: It depends on the size of the vessel and the level of equipment that the customer wants to fit in. For any case, a detailed cost estimate is delivered to the customer with materials and labor that  will be required to complete the construction.

Q: What is currently the taxation the status of traditional wooden boats?

A:  Law 4334/2015 is applied, which excludes traditional wooden boats (“Trechantiri”, “Varkala”, “Perama”, “Tserniki” and “Liberty” class, that are manufactured entirely in Greece), from taxation.

Q: What kind of lumber is used in a wooden boat?

A: They are used many types of lumber depending on the part of the vessel and how hard we want to be. E.g for the deck is used teak which  have excellent moisture resistance, while for  keel we use Greek pine tree of North Evia region.We also use iroko and mahogany rails for interior decoration and furnishing depending on the customer's wishes.

Q: What type of maintenance a wooden boat requires?

A: The level of maintenance varies depending on the age and condition of each vessel. If a boat had not been maintained for many years, certainly a lot of work will be required. Using new material’s technology (epoxy resins, glass fabrics, etc.) we no longer need caulks and old traditional methods and thus no frequent maintenance is required.


Q: How many boats have built Reppos boat buildres so far?

A: We have built since 1968 over 1500 boats of all types (Traditional and contemporary styles for professional and recreational reasons)  from 3 to 24.5 meters. Also we have transfected, reconstructed and repaired hundreds of vessels.
